Of blacklights, jacklights, and creepy creatures of fear.

Found on Flickr; Image by DevilsChariot
Devils Chariot is back on my blog, with this creepy little dude with glowing green eyes. *Shutter*

Black lights give everything that un-earthly glow, even foam tombstones with plastic skeleton hands. Yesterday I learned the actual atom level workings of the black light effect from some MIT OCW Vids I was watching, so the florecent glow of objects under blacklight holds a whole new meaning.

First some black light, and now some Jack Light. Orange and black, how charming.

Of spirits, brains, and the allure of green glass.

Found on Flickr; Image by nushuz
Spirits, no the liquid kind. a blood red drink an a skeleton hand glass. How appropriate.

The Brain Hemorrhage. Shot of choice for Zombies world wide.

An inviting green bottle, or is it? Oh the allure of green glass.

Of Black Cats, Brooms and being Bee Witched.

Found on Flickr; Image by Cobalt123
He's so handsome! All he needs is an old lady in a funny hat, a broom, and a cauldron and he'd be set!
Found on Flickr; Image by Jim Murrell IV
Kitty and broom, wheres the old lady now?

Found on Flickr; Image by Boopsie.daisy
Oh the visual puns. Bee Witched... LOL.

Of Pumpkins, glowing gourds, and the simple pleasure of the pumpkin grin.

Found on Flickr; Image by Jim Murphy
Theres nothing like the smell of burning pumpkin flesh. I love all of the pumpkins in this image.

The guy closest to us is what caught my eye, his pointy grin and section of missing teeth make me smile.

I used to be a fan of intricate pieces of art such as this. I've started to lean closer and closer to the traditional Jack for my favorites.

Of laboratories, potion bottles and the aesthetic of collections of glass bottles stoppered with cork.

Found on Flickr; Image by Vissago
Erlenmeyer Flasks with dry ice and colored water. I love chemistry laboratories. It's the look really, all the scientific complexity and carefulness, the controlled chaos. Flasks, vials and measuring instruments sitting in such a cleanly cluttered environment. I know its what you do with them that one should respect, but one cannot help but enjoy the aesthetic of a labratory.

Found on Flickr; Image by TW Collins
Potions. Oh what a beautiful sight, hundreds of bottles carefully labeled, all topped with cork stoppers. I would love to have a wall filled with oil and herb bottles for every whim. but for now the small herb cabinet handed down from my grandmother will have to do.

More Potion bottles. It'll never end.

On Zombies Friends, Zombie distant acquaintances and some decently hot zombie chick.

Normally, when dealing with Halloween images, I avoid posting pictures of humans for the obvious complication of identifying who they are. But in this case, I could not help it, seeing that I ran across the image below and an idea was born.

You ever have those moments of "Hey I know that Zombie?" No? Well I guess I'm a freak then.
This is Joey, I know him because he is the son of my brother in laws girlfriend. He is creepy as HELL as a zombie Clown. So if your in Louisville, give Joey and his mother some love for the awesomeness that is this CRAZY SCARY zombie.

Found on Facebook; Image by Julez Rodionova
Behold, another "Hey! I know that zombie!" moment. One of my fabulous, and very few and far in between friends from high school, Justin, downing a blood spiked blue ribbon and giving us a bloody thumbs up.
(Justin, I could not help it. When one does posts on Zombies, one has to include ones friends.)

Finally for your enjoyment, what a hot chick would look like given an inhuman thirst for brains.

(Why Didn't I title this?) Cauldron Creep

Found on Flickr; Image by Devils Chariot
What an image! That's EPIC. and by epic I mean [EPIC]
Beautiful work.
Found on Flickr; Image by Devils Chariot
Devils has some really beautiful images, and this is one of the creepiest. A Zombie monkey, ALA POTC with no fur... gorgous.

Found on Flickr; Image by Graustark
While we are on the subject of zombie-fied creatures of a non human nature, I present SKELEMINGOS! Plastic Pink Flamingo Zombies!

Of Pumpkin Pi, broken images and geeky refrences carved in pumpkin flesh.

Found on Flickr; Image by JPStanley
Pi Pumpkin, or is it Pumpkin Pi? A simply hilarious visual pun if you ask me. One of the most commonly used symbols in trigonometry, this little pumpkin reminds one to study, and on Halloween night it says loud and proud, "I am a math/language geek, and I don't care what you think about it!"
Found on Flickr; Image by Mike Madsen
Three pumpkins and one geeky reference for your general enjoyment. The Pumpkin King, Mario, and the Disturbed mascot, "The Guy". Kudos to the (I'll assume) young artists who carved these.

Found on Flickr; Image by  vavrajj
Another brilliant visual pun, the broken image link commonly found on old or outdated websites.
Freaking hilarious.

Of Pumpkins in the patch, Luminas and working with what one can get in the deasert.

Found on  Flickr; Image By Rae Hartsock
Lumina Pumpkins, one of my favorite types of pumpkins, The white exterior skin contrasts the deep orange innards nicely, and lend to them a ghostly air. If I could get my hands on a Lumina This year I would be thrilled, but its incredibly unlikely at a decent price, considering my location.

This is the kind I generally encounter in Las Vegas, the classic orange. I'll be picking up mine early in the season, so as to avoid the rush during this years pumpkin shortage.

Of Haunted Mansions, Grim Grinning Ghosts, and a Snow Covered Jack.

Found on Flickr; Image by Mastery of Maps
The original Haunted Mansion in unusual hues of blue and green, a rare sight to be sure. Can you believe that its been there, up and running at 1500 guests an hour, almost everyday for 40 years? Amazing isn't it?
*Correction*The Haunted Mansion carries 2000-2400 Passengers per hour, which makes it more epic.
I had a 4 day weekend with out internet, and so I have posted today 15 images of The Haunted Mansion, Enjoy!
Found on Flickr; Image by Philip Michael Photo
The Florida Haunted Mansion, I've never been to Walt Disney World, but it is my intention to go in the future.
Found on Flickr; Image by Cuellar
Phantom Manor in Disney Land Paris. Apparently the Euro Disney version is much more graphic than here stateside, a lot of corpses running about...
Found on Flickr; Image by Joe Penniston
This is the first image I have by Joe Penningston, who takes incredible images of the Mansion and makes them available on Flickr.  This image is of the ghost horse in front of the WDW Mansion. This really is an incredible effect.

A butler in front of the front of the Haunted Mansion in CA, the composition of this image is epic. Seriously.

The changing portraits, straight laced respectable Victorian paintings by day, but throw some lightning on those suckers and everything changes.
Found on Flickr; Image by Joe Penniston
The floating Madam Leota effect. It comes and goes in Disneyland (when I went 4 years ago it was in, but this year it was out.... ) but when its up and running what an effect it is.
Found on Flickr; Image by Frogmiller
The Haunted Dueling Portraits, an effect you have to be looking for while your whizzing by the ballroom in your Doom Buggy, the ballroom has so many details its hard to catch in one ride.

'Till death do us part, taken to new heights by the ghost bride in the attic.

The poor shaking grounds keeper, the only "living" thing in the mansion besides the crows and the poor old dog next to him.

The talking singing busts in the grave yard

Hitchhiking ghosts!

The next three images are of the Haunted Mansion Holiday that takes place every year from October through the end of December. Above is the external overlay, in all its beautiful daytime Nightmare Before Christmas glory.

The Pumpkin King Santa.

Finally my favorite prop, the Pumpkin mountian. I intend to have a fake pumpkin out this year, hopefully it will snow and I can have this at home for a bit... how nice that would be. Notice that this is the area of the singing busts above, and they have just been replaced with pumpkins... pretty neat trick.

Of Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and witches cabinets

Found on Justchalkinblog: Photo and art by Lea Vollmer.
Pumpkin Spiced Lattes have returned! and I say huzzah to that. Now just if the S-bux here at UNLV knew how to make one, we would be set.

I've always wanted to have a witches cabinet, filled with bottles and jars and artifacts labeled with ancient looking tags and hand scrawled labels.

More bottles and jars.

Of decorations and vintage charm.

Found On Flickr; Photography by Johnny Love of Love Manor (I presume)
Love Manor has some of the most alluring Halloween Decorum to be seen on Flickr, and this is just a taste of their beautiful imagery, of which I guarantee I'll  be touching upon again in the future. They took a break for 2008, and I look forward to their work this year. Go check out their site at Love Manor.

Finally a Vegas Valley prop worth mentioning! This lovely corpse was photographed out in Henderson in 2007. Great corpsifying and wonderful lighting. I'll be taking photographs of my own of the upcoming Las Vegas Haunts and Events, so keep a look out for those in the coming months.

Vintage Halloween always has a charming air about it.

Of sliced grins and sweet treats

Found on Flickr; Photograph by _bkw_
This is from the same group that did the first image in my last post, and I found out that these images come from the Hudson Valley of New York, from the Van Courtlandt Manor. This event is called the Great Jack o' Lantern Blaze, and it features 4000 hand carved pumpkins, check out the site for more info, and if your out in New York Get your arse down there! The Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze

What a beautifully creepy face. I used to be a fan of ornate mad masterpieces of pumpkins, but in recent years a scary face sliced in to the front of a large, dark orange pumpkin is so much more satisfying.

This is what its all about, candy.
