A Dumpster is no place for a Jack o Lantern.

Scarz, Beast and Psycho, Two Face is sitting on the Table.
Unfortunately I had to throw out my pumpkins tonight. extremely fuzzy mold grew all over the insides of Beast and Psycho, and Jack was turning a sickly orange from its original white.
I actually teared up.
I look forward to the day when my pumpkins can languish and rot in my back yard instead of being thrown in to a dumpster....

Mine always go to the back corner of the yard. They completely disappear around June or July.
Don't feel too bad, you've got to do what you have to do.

I know you probably think this is crazy, but if I use a little tealight in a big pumpkin but don't burn it all night long, the pumpkin is still good. There isn't any wax taste and the flesh is still perfect. So I peel it, cook it, drain it, and then put it in Mason Jars and process it in a pressure cooker. It makes perfect pumpkin pie. Then I feel guilty if I throw my pumpkin out and have to buy canned pumpkin. hehe

@Joy: I don't think you are crazy! It's a great idea, heck I'd do it but my pumpkins are always burnt on the inside. I LOVE the smell of toasted pumpkin, so my pumpkins stay lit for like 12 hours, and get lit every night until I have to throw them out. I do, however, highly commend your effort to recycle your pumpkins! Bravo! ^_^
